Tony Scott was one of few clarinettists to play bop and his cool tone separated him from the crowd and the harder, more driving playing of Buddy DeFranco.
'52nd Street…' features such luminaries of the jazz scene as, Coleman Hawkins, Pee Wee Russell, Al Cohn and others and includes great tunes such as, 'Body and Soul', 'Round Midnight' and the seminal 'Lester Leaps In'.
Listen to 'Free Blown Jazz' and hear the group as they emphasize free blowing, achieving spontaneity unhampered by time limits on tunes like, 'There Will Never Be Another You', 'Gone With The Wind' and 'If I'm Lucky'.
