It happened in 1954. A full-scale festival of jazz was held in one of London's Royal concert halls - and financially, as well as artistically, it was a resounding success! The National Jazz Federation, a non-profit making body dedicated to the furtherance of British jazz, was responsible for the event which took place at the Royal Festival Hall on October 30. An afternoon concert for the modernists and an evening show for traditional jazz lovers made up the programme. This album comprises specially selected extracts from the modern presentation.
