Lalo SCHIFRIN – Rio After Dark

Lalo Schifrin is best known for being a composer of movie music, often of a jazzy nature and his work was particularly popular with Clint Eastwood who used him on many movies including the Dirty Harry series.

On offer here we have two albums by Lalo; the first is Bossa Nova - New Brazilian Jazz and the second is Piano Strings and Bossa Nova. These selections find the Argentina-born Schifrin paying tribute to the Brazilian style with lush, elegant strings and his lyrical piano. There are bossa nova standards, some originals and American composers given the romantic bossa treatment.
