Johnny BOND – I Like My Chicken Fryin’ Size

This compilation is a companion to the earlier Johnny Bond CD on JASMCD 3512, "The Heart And Soul Of The West", but this new release is slanted towards his more commercial recordings of the later 1940s into the 1950s. His readiness to adopt contemporary styles is evidenced in the more up-tempo numbers, like the opening "Bartender’s Blues" in the popular ‘boogie woogie’ idiom of the period, with clear overtones of the Rock ‘N’ Roll revolution soon to come. However, Country (and a bit of Western) music is the prevailing theme and the man from Oklahoma does not disappoint. Despite the minor imperfections on a few of the earlier recordings, enjoy the music of a great Country singer/songwriter.
