This original cast recording captures the show’s blend of humour, romance and Mediterranean colour, brought to life by a distinguished ensemble including Ezio Pinza, Florence Henderson, William Tabbert and Walter Slezak.
The album opens with the orchestral Overture, setting the tone for a story rooted in Marseille’s harbour life. Gerald Price delivers the lively Octopus Song, while William Tabbert and the male chorus bring emotional weight to Restless Heart. Walter Slezak’s comic timing shines in Never Too Late for Love and the Cold Cream Jar Song, before Ezio Pinza’s rich bass anchors Why Be Afraid to Dance and Welcome Home.
The heart of the musical emerges in duets and ensemble moments: Pinza and Tabbert in I Like You, Florence Henderson’s tender I Have to Tell You, and Tabbert’s title song Fanny. The first act closes with the spirited Wedding Dance and the ensemble Finale Act 1.
