• Bob Gibson was a key figure in the late 50’s early 60’s folk revival. Whilst less well known than his peers, like Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, he is cited as an influence by no less than John Lennon. His songs have been recorded by the likes of The Seekers, The Byrds, The Limeliters, Peter, Paul and Mary and Bob Dylan.
• This set features 32 tracks drawn from his early recordings, beginning with a pair of songs from a 1955 demo reel that secured him a record deal, his rare single for Decca and four albums for Riverside, including a live set recorded at Carnegie Hall.
• Many of these recordings have not been available since the 60’s and appear on CD for the first time. The set also includes rare recordings from the 1959 and 1960 Newport Folk Festivals with Bob featured solo, with Bob Camp and with Joan Baez, marking the first time she was seen by a national audience.
• Gibson is an important but often overlooked master of his genre.
