- One of the most powerful slide guitarists and expressive vocalists in Delta Blues, BUKKA WHITE recorded an impressive body of work between 1930 and 1940.
- This compilation features those early sides; nine 78rpm singles, plus two tracks recorded for the Library Of Congress, in 1939, whilst he was in prison.
- Over the ensuing decades they have gone on to earn him iconic status, although they were largely ignored the first time around.
- It was only following his rediscovery in the early 1960s, by which time he was in his mid-fifties, that White’s musical career finally took off.
- His early records started appearing on compilations of vintage Blues recordings, and he began to reach a whole new, young audience.
- And once he’d begun playing live to that audience, Bukka swiftly established himself as a major player on the Folk/Blues Revival circuit.
