Bob Dylan – Greenwich Village

£8.99 inc. VAT

JASCD1250

Genre: Folk

  • Whilst it was billed as his “First New York Concert”, BOB DYLAN’s gig at Carnegie Chapter Hall in Greenwich Village, in November 1961, was actually his first headlining concert anywhere.
  • And although he was still “A Complete Unknown” (he’d arrived in New York January ’61) Dylan’s confidence and infamous arrogance were already in evidence.
  • Much of his performance was professionally recorded, and excerpts were broadcast on the radio at the time.
  • When tapes of this show began circulating among collectors in the late 60s, the gig was hailed by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of his finest, most essential live performances.
  • His set comprised mainly traditional Folk and Blues songs and Woody Guthrie material; and, as you’ll hear, this was indeed a tremendous gig, capturing His Bobness just as he was morphing into The Zeitgeist.
