The Platters – The Jasmine EP Collection

• This compilation of classic PLATTERS cuts, drawn from EPs issued in the US, the UK and France between 1956 and 1962, comprises a prime selection of A-sides, B-sides and a couple of stray album tracks.
• It includes all their major hits, notably ‘Only You’, ‘The Great Pretender’, ‘The Magic Touch’, ‘My Prayer’, ‘Twilight Time’, ‘Smoke Gets In Your Eyes’ and ‘Harbour Lights’, all million-sellers.
• During the mid-to-late 1950s The Platters were the most popular vocal group in the world.
• They appeared on dozens of top-ranking US TV shows, in six iconic R&R movies, and headlined tours in the US, the UK, mainland Europe, Australia, South America and The Philippines.
• Sadly, their popularity ground to a halt in 1960 when lead singer Tony Williams, the man with that unmistakable, mellifluous high tenor, left to pursue a solo career.
